Earth has a puny spin ... terryanderson1986: I was thinking about how we use planets as a way to slingshot our rockets and boy getting a boost from one of those would be awesome. terryanderson1986: I also have a fascination with "white holes" in some ways I think they are a clue to how other universes are created.  Corwin: Although the gravitational slingshot effect would be considerable using a black hole, Kitty is right about the "time-dilation" though if you ventured into proximity with it... ESPECIALLY with a black hole rotating so ridiculously fast. You'd gain a considerable boost in speed, but would find yourself possibly millions of years in the future once the maneuver was complete. I'm not sure if it would be wise to trifle with singularities. Venture too close and you might just be hurled into a point of no return, and find yourself bearing witness to the final end of the Universe as billions of years pass before your eyes in mere seconds. Let's just go for it all ... terryanderson1986: They are noticing some black holes have lost mass and there is speculation that it is going out on the other end creating a new universe .... the energy waves coming out would be mind blowing ... and possibly all the weak and strong forces might be in tact in that burst ...but that is me daydreaming on codeine so take that with a grain of salt. lgs1013: Corwin, pretty thought provoking concept. What if time and mass where not the only distortions? Maybe The spacecraft is composed of atoms. Maybe atoms traveling singularly at the speed of light would not " rip apart" Corwin: Perhaps... it's all only theory. But you can take that chance and dive into a Black Hole and see what happens... What would such a being think of us?  airdrie50: apart from radio waves and T.V. what other methods could be used to transmit vast light years. Are we bound by the light speed. kittybobo34: air,, seems we are bound (speed of light) in this universe. Longpig,, a species with no concept of lying or dishonesty would probably be a hive creature, totally altruistic.( like bees). They probably wouldn't be much fun. My X is not a "natural" nice girl .... I try to be distant but the alien down below who upon seeing her wants to pop up and say "welcome back" is messing my resolve up .. He does not understand some earth girls are treacherous. The movie "Earth Girls are Easy" is both a lie and a trap. I think he even finds my fear slightly erotic .....
