Corwin: I heard of a guy who does the same thing, but while awake. He peeks into his neighbor's windows.
He uses an RC drone though, and has been arrested a few times. So, more of a psychotic pilot.

lori100: -------------I don't think this one was astral projection but remote viewing....---------------------------Did the CIA really astrally project to Mars in 1984?
https://slate.com/technology/.../did-the-cia-really-astrally-project-to-mars-in-1984.html-----------------“Mars Exploration: May 22, 1984.” A brief explanatory note indicates that “the subject” was given a sealed envelope “immediately prior to the interview” but was instructed not to open it yet. During the interview itself, the subject only had verbal access to “[s]elected geographic coordinates, provided by the parties requesting the information.”

After this introduction, you’ll find a seemingly unedited transcript of the interview, a dialogue that reads like some fragment of a lost Samuel Beckett play. You need not crawl through the full seven pages of dialogue to get a sense of its strangeness. Here’s a representative sample from the start.--------------[Subject]: … I’m seeing, ah … It’s like a perception of a shadow of people, very tall … thin, it’s only a shadow. It’s as if they were there and they’re not, not there anymore.
[Monitor]: Go back to a period of time where they are there.
Sub: … Um … (mumble) It’s like I get a lot of static on a line and everything, it’s breaking up all the time, very fragmentary pieces.
Mon: Just report the data, don’t try to put things together, just report the raw data.
Sub: I just keep seeing very large people. They appear thin and tall, but they’re very large. Ah … wearing some kind of strange clothes.
In what follows, the conversation jumps around rapidly as the monitor directs the subject to investigate different coordinates, providing no other information. As the subject does, he describes some of the sites of interest that he notices, including a large “obelisk” that reminds him of the Washington Monument, “rounded bottom carved channels, like road beds,” and, most strikingly, “pyramids … like shelters from storms.” In those structures, he finds the shadowy people he had seen before, hibernating. “They’re an ancient people,” he tells the monitor. “They’re ah … they’re dying, it’s past their time or age.”

The 3-by-5-inch card in the sealed envelope—which, remember, supposedly went unseen until all these visions had faded—provides some clue as to what the subject was witnessing. Like the dateline of some LSD-soaked cartoon, it read,

The planet Mars.
Time of interest approximately
1 million years B.C.-----------------------------According to an explanatory document about the Star Gate, available on the CIA’s site, the program sought to cultivate “psychoenergetics,” which it defines as “A Mental Process by which an Individual Perceives, Communicates with, and/or Perturbs Characteristics of a Designated Target, Person or Event Remote in Space and/or Time from that Individual.” (The unusual capitalization scheme is original to the document.) In particular, Star Gate focused on “remote viewing”—which involves using the mind alone to see thing that aren’t immediately present. The document proposes that “remote viewing” is “inherent to every human to some degree” and “Probably a vestigial form of self-preservation.”

Years and years ago I was part of a group of five or six who went to be shown and trained in the stage Psychic skills where someone in front of an audience reads members of the audience.

The professional readers told us how to do it and coached us through a few readings until we got the skill.

I could do it. It is a skill you can learn based on hard work. Its not Woo in any way.

I was a high scorer with eight or nine exact matches but I was exhausted. It was very intense work.

chronology: What Lori is talking about is not what you are talking about. You are talking about Cold Reading, that is just a variation of profiling. After a short conversation Cold Reader's can seem to be in touch with deceased people. It is simple profiling using word association.
Lori is talking about psychic abilities. Like Lori I have seen people who can do this, it is a step up from telepathy. With telepathy people can exchange thoughts. With remote viewing they can not only exchange thoughts but actually see what the targeted individual can see at any given time. No Idea at all how they do this, but they can. I've seen them do it. I recall Lori saying she has seen it done as well.
If it was a trick of some kind I have no idea how it was done.

duncan124:

You don't know what you are talking about Chrono. You don't talk to the person at all except to say " Who's next??"

I believe that Psychics do use their powers to find thoughts from people, often third parties who are missing, and they do say " I am seeing....a red wall, house , river etc.

Governments want the skill of concentrating on you and I very much and I think that is only equalled by their desire to disturb other peoples thinking.

You can't even read whats on the page in front of you!

Cold reading is of things connected to a missing person. Which seems to be a step further from the more common readings from a picture of a person.

"I could do it. It is a skill you can learn based on hard work. Its not Woo in any way."

See.

Oh, and by the way, have you ever done any reading. Of any sort??

Have you done any Psychic readings ?? Or any ordinary Reading?

No you have no idea what so ever ,....and that makes you the missing third link between Psychics and Psychologists.... because Psychologists have nothing to say about Psychics...because the instructions obviously came from Psychics who were talking down to the less able.

It is hard work.

chronology: Duncan, you do not even know what Cold Reading is. James Randi has explained and debunked Cold Reading over and over again.

If you want to try and assert what you are talking about is true then present some evidence, and a proper name for what you are talking about, but don't call it cold reading. Cold Reading has been debunked over and over again. Even genuine Mediums call it fake.

" You can't even read whats on the page in front of you! "

Chrono you said it was called Cold Reading and you said it required a Medium.

Try and read the post again. Concentrate on the part that says it was a skill you could learn based on hard work.

You could take a look at the part that says "where someone in front of an audience reads members of the audience." What do you think that means?

Thanks Chrono!

duncan124:

Anyway. The skill of being on a stage and telling people you have never met before things about them is a logical and teachable skill.

The fact that Psychics often take on that job is probably because they find it easier than most and because they use those skills in their private work.

I have met some of the famous Psychics you can see on Psychic Detectives and other shows There is something about them. Perhaps because they are now out going famous performers seen on TV. But even if you didn't know who they were and just shared a train carriage with one of them you would notice something about the people around you.
