They all seem to be ripening at the same time but unless there is no more sunny days I doubt there is going to be any problems for the farmers except how to spend the money

Hot weather ahead !?

http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/694729/UK-weather-forecast-heatwave-sun-summer-hot-till-August-September

"Britain’s weather is currently under the influence of a huge area of high pressure over the Azores Islands in the Atlantic off the coast of Portugal.

Combined with an imminent shift in the jet stream to a more northerly position this will open the flood gates to a flow of scorching air from the Continent.

James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, said summer still has the potential to break temperature records with “potent” blasts of heat likely through August.

He said: “The potential for hot weather will start developing around early August and there is great potential for a monster heatwave.

“We have entered a significant pattern change from what we experienced so far throughout the early part of summer, and this will allow a more dominant Azores high to become a frequent feature well into August.

“This high pressure will keep many parts of the country under more summer-like conditions in particular, in the southern half of the country and many parts of England and Wales.

“The dominant high pressure also doesn't reveal the full picture for some parts of the very far north over the coming weeks as they will be under the influence or very close to some much cooler air for the time of the year.

“There may also be a higher than normal opportunity for an early autumn type storm or rather windy period during the final third of August, and under some less seasonal temperatures than earlier in the month. " express.co.uk

Clearly the dry land is influencing the temperatures. " Dominant high pressure"s are not called that if they are in the " North " and clearly saying the high temperatures wont " reach the north " or " go north " is out of luck.

A quick look at the wiki shows the average 1981-2000 was just over 20 for the summer in England.

So no change there expected.

Except that it has n't reached those temps for long so far.

ghostgeek: A strike by a medium-size asteroid could change Earth's climate dramatically for a few years, making life difficult for people around the world, a new study suggests.

Such an impact on land (as opposed to at sea) could cause average global temperatures to plunge to ice age levels and lead to steep drops in precipitation and plant productivity, among other effects, researchers said.

NASA is to launch a space probe to investigate a huge asteroid it fears could one day hit Earth.

Bennu crosses the Earth’s orbit every six years, but is getting closer and closer.

The space rock is due to pass BETWEEN the Earth and the moon in 2135 – a distance of around 290,000 km away.

The asteroid is half a kilometre in diameter and travels at 63,000 miles per hour.

It was discovered in 1999 and has been a concern for scientists due to the potential risks for Earth.

To evaluate exactly how much of a risk the asteroid poses, NASA is launching a probe to collect rock samples to help find out more about the rock and what impact it could have.

Dante Lauretta, Professor of Planetary Science at Arizona University, and the NASA expert in charge of the mission said: “That 2135 fly-by is going to tweak Bennu’s orbit, potentially putting it on course for the Earth later that century.”

ghostgeek: TEMPERATURES will soar to 35C (95F) within the next two weeks as a heatwave grips Britain until SEPTEMBER.

Long-range forecasts indicate August is gearing up to deliver huge bursts of sizzling hot sunshine.

Thermometers are poised to rocket back into the mid 30Cs within a few days as another surge of heat blows in from the Continent.

Weathermen say the next sizzler will be longer and possibly hotter than last week’s mini heatwave which saw the mercury push past the 33C (91F) mark.

However extreme heat will trigger volatile and explosive thunderstorms bringing torrential downpours and frenzied lightning strikes.

Frenzied lightning strikes!!

Claims of hot weather have yet to be born out by events but in the past the Met Office has explained that storms coming up from the Azores can when they form a straight line -which smaller clouds can be seen to have done in for example Suspicious Observers most recent video of the weather systems-join together and cause super storms which were described as the most serious weather threat to the UK.

A meteor strike on or near a volcano would no doubt also cause a large eruption darkening the skies.

But dust from space also seeds clouds and could also bring darker and so colder weather.

August will never be a sizzler in the UK for sure and reports of a terrorist threat being "When not if" are certainly a response to the heightened alert due to the incoming storms expected.

It has n't been as cold in the UK as it was in the 1980s even and no one says that was an Ice Age.

Perhaps other things have changed and the choices of warming or ice age are totally wrong.

The weather seems to have already had serious consequences elsewhere;-

" Bad weather causes millions in agriculture losses "

"The negative effect of bad weather on agriculture this year has been estimated at PLN 152 million (EUR 36 million) to August, caused by a mixture of drought, hail and storms." thenews.pl

In Portugal wildfires have already consumed 80,000 hectares. I think these have been burning for some time as there was a report about cars at a rave being burnt but no mention of wildfires being the cause.

So in other words Portugal has seriously tried to suppress this story and only now when other counties have said they have weather problems did it allow the news to be printed.

YouTube

The disturbance on the internet as first the story was suppressed then the continueing fires caused it to be unavoidable could be what has also caused other political changes.

"Fernando Curto, explained that “we have fires last 35 hours, more than five thousand feet on the ground on mainland Portugal alone, which is an army, and fire-fighters working 24 consecutive hours while earning €1.87 an hour.”

One single man is believed to be responsible for starting the massive fire that has devastated the island of Madeira. A 24-year-old named by the media as Paulo Gonçalves is understood to have confessed to staring the fire with a lighter, in an area of scrubland in São Roque, after spending the morning drinking and smoking hashish. He is also suspected of having started another fire in 2011 near the Marítimo football stadium.  " Portugalnews

Euro 1.87 an hour to fight fires isn't a good wage!!!

Edit The news said 30,000 not 80,000 as I have written by mistake.

"The area of land destroyed by wild fires in Portugal in 2016, up to 15 August, is 103,137 hectares, or three times the average in the last ten years, according to a provisional report from the Portuguese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICNF)."TheNews
