Alternative Energy Sources (Page 2)

kellyfarr: you can buy solar panels and sell back to the grid.....or you can pay for electricity. You can buy an electric car, you can actually get your own solar charge station built for 5000 dollars (in canada) and never pay for anything to run your vehicle. They even have solar charge kits for electric cars for longer distance trips. All depends on what you want from your life, but the technology is there to do as you wish. Seems to me paying for something you can get for free is foolish.
Then you have wierd shit like companys like gm scrapping their electric programs and investing heavily in charge stations, which freaks me out and pisses me off slightly.
Technically the kyoto accord which most modern countries signed a decade ago laid the foundations for the great changes we r seeing today. If you pay attention to that....which likely most people did not, but if.....people who want to continue to own combustion engines will be taxed right out of them by 2026 and rightfully so! emissions and carbon taxes will be levied on you and if you refuse to change with the times, well hope you like giving your money away because you will end up being a charity to your country.
Countries like scotland are now 88 percent off the main grid, countries like butan have negative numbers which means they produce more than they currently use. India, china alone will make tesla the number one car manufacturer in the world next year! which i personally love as elon musk forced large companys hands to do this and if he had not....then there wouldnt be much of a future for anyone.
CHANGE IS GOOD!

I think the idea here is to generate your own electricity.

Because from experience the official suppliers are not reliable for price and availability when the Governments go wrong.

kittybobo34: California's mandatory new home solar cell rule will be an interesting experiment. There was no provision for quality though, some solar cells only last about 3 years.

kellyfarr: Well i thought the idea of renewable energy was to transition the entire world away from carbon combustion emissions. The technology is there for surely!
My dad installed solar on his place 5 years ago ad has not paid for electricity since. Very simple idea, make your own for free or pay a large company to rape you....essentially.
ok well you all seem very patriotic, so i will break it down on another level for you. Your country's military needs the oil to continue their efforts to continue to take over the world and expand your military grasp passed the 70 plus country's that now have american military bases in their borders. You need the oil for space exploration currently and that's vital to the continuation of the human race which happens to be slightly bigger issue than borders and nationality's.
I mean like in canada watch a documentary we made called silencing of the labs. Essentially canada laid off all our scientists doing climate research cause well they said we are fucked, the ice in the north is melting quicker and quicker every year!
so in that regards.....lotsa people are thinking about more than their countries welfare and well the possible continuation of the human race. Cause lets face it, majority of people could and would not be able to take care of themselves once oil reserves run out.....which is also happening.

What you going to drag all that to another plannet , Good luck with that

kittybobo34: Average utility about 150/month x 12= 1800/year = pay off in 11years, not bad .

You just have to be sure you will live there long enough to collect on the investment.
Another plus, inflation will raise the cost of power so the pay off will probably be sooner.
