Alternative Energy Sources (Page 3) The flying Squirrel: See this boke has got the right Idear , Just divert your local streem (Edited by The flying Squirrel) kittybobo34: He has the right idea, but the wrong method. New designs for small stream turbines would get much more power from that stream. From the looks of it, this is a low tech. community project. kittybobo34: Wasn't trying to be negative, just noticed all the wood work. In contrast to installing a 12kW generator. The flying Squirrel: I was only Joking , I like that set up , apparenty there Popular in the Alps and places like that .Minus the water wheel , Just with pipes But there a bit more liberal those places on what the Govenment allows, Be enough Power for a few 's No Matter how free we tell our selves we are , well LOL duncan124: ...and it snows in the mountains. Just look at Colorado. All that water would be solid when you need electricity the most. kittybobo34: Duncan,, interesting point about the water freezing, Running the water through an insulated pipe might help. chronology: Beaver, good comments about Nuclear Power. I always said the way for America to build a base for it's electrical services was with 12 extra big Fast Breeder Reactors near the coast. The reactor could be part of a desalination supply that would provide over a million gallons of fresh water a day for next to nothing in cost. Nuclear Plants need a lot of water, and America needs fresh water. A major Nuclear Generation Plant with combined desalination could provide 2 million gallons per day for California. If the San Francisco to Las Vegas Maglev ever gets built water could be tankered at night time to Vegas for a fraction of the cost of conventional tankering. Maglev Tracks need little servicing and the cost per ton of cargo moved is only one sixteenth of regular rail freight. Add mineral recovery from the desalination sludge and California could have a new resource. Maglev Tracks are a chunk of change indeed. But passenger use by day, and freight hauling at night would cut into the initial cost of construction. Conventional tankering of water to Vegas would be prohibitive in cost. Just a side thought, whoever thought of building a City in the middle of a desert,? kittybobo34: Interesting thoughts Chorno. Not so hot on breeder reactors though, until they find a way to park used fuel that doesn't need power to keep it cool, like the Fukushima power plants fuel. chronology: Fast breeder reactors produce very little waist. Was talking to a Guy a long time ago who dealt with spent nuclear waist. Not sure what method of cooling you are taking about. He stored spent pellets in ceramic jars in stream of cold water. The water never left the cooling stream. They kept the pellets jars there for years in the cooling stream until the reaction fizzled out then buried the jars deep underground. kittybobo34: At Fuashima, they pumps providing the water failed for lack of power, the fuel melted down and sunk into the ground contaminating the area for miles plus the ground water. kittybobo34: So until they come up with a reactor design that stops safely when untended, I want nothing to do with nuclear power. The flying Squirrel: yeah Dont want Nucler , The waste Lasts for thousands of years , What Just Burrying it Just putting it out of Site , Stll have to deal with it later . I Suppose putting Nuclear waste in Weapons , And Shooting them at your Enemys is a Creative and Heroic way to get rid of it to some people (Edited by The flying Squirrel) The flying Squirrel: Theres Currently American and Russia Nucler powered Subermires that have Sunk, And there still on the bottom of the Sea , Spwing out Nucler Waste, they cant shut them down chronology: Squirrel stop spreading hysteria. U.S. submarines have been inspected and declared safe by the Navy. Russia has raised the Kursk submarine.
The flying Squirrel: Not Speading Histearia , Its True , Im just not a tool of Propaganda like some People The flying Squirrel: A Russian nuclear sub sank a few weeks ago , And then Mike pence Cancelled all Engaements While the "Global Community" Had a big meeting about it , You can make out its one side against the other , or One Is Heroic Saving Mankind , But there all on the same side Hiding there Stuffups from the public , (Edited by The flying Squirrel) chronology: Again, here we go. The Kursk sits in a dry dock in Russia. You can visit it if you like. The U.S.S. Thresher has regular check ups by the Navy and is considered safe. For goodness sake can't you ever just accept facts? The flying Squirrel: Wasnt Talking About the Kursk , People Like you are Just Smooth sayers , Your Got people Spending the rest of there lives in Jail , Cos they know whats Right , And What should be In the Public Intrest , People like you Idolise Politions who Have no Accountability to Any one , No Morals No Nothing kittybobo34: I recall the Russians had some rusting hulks in their northern sea ports, but I thought they had finally dealt with them. Not aware of any new sub disasters. chronology: Some Trivia about the subs. The Pepsi Cola company became the third biggest submarine owner in the world back in the 1990s. Folks in Russia loved Pepsi but had no money to buy any. Pepsi came up with an old economic system from the Cold War Days. Payment in goods. Pepsi shipped millions of cans of Pepsi to Russia and Russia sent the subs to the U.S. for scrap. Everyone was happy with the Deal. The flying Squirrel: Kitty the one in the video for a start. But it was a European team thats ben checking them out with Russia. Prolly why no ones herd about it . Its not like theres any Country bias around here | Science Chat Room Similar Conversations |
