kittybobo34: That is what makes Star Trek really good, as a template for how things could be if Gov. and technology uses were based on science,, with out political corruption, and greed.

refurbwoodart: Hunger for power is actually the more evil that exist in politics. For example lol at China hacking coronovirus vaccines. Thats all about power and the greed is a sidebar so they can profit from it or avoid paying for it. I honestly think the best captain on all series in it is Archer. He had to make decisions based on life,existence and also be diplomatic while doing it. The best ambassador might have been Picard however Archer didn't have a template to go by.

kittybobo34: I agree with you, Archer was more realistic too.

refurbwoodart: Oddly enough now that he is the director on NCIS New Orleans he is still playing the same crossover character as the leader on there believe it or not. He is just directing federal agents and not Star Fleet officers. It had to be an easy crossover of characters to play. But I think playing Archer was a great prelude for him to playing the character he plays now. However I think what developed his talent was his character in Quantum leap.

kittybobo34: I think it interesting that no one noticed the political system behind the Star Trek future is a democratic socialist one, with capitalism restrained to small businesses.

refurbwoodart: I caught it and I dont agree that is what we need right now. However I do think restrictions should be set on trading. I dont thing industry and profit should be abolished. If trading were delta with differently everyone could move up the ladder because then corporations would be more willing to reward employees. As it stands now they owe more to traders and investors than they do to the ones creating the profits. Limit the trade and percentage of increase that can be rewarded to stockholders and require a overage of increase be rewarded to employees. I bet we wouldnt have so many traders then only really really good ones.

kittybobo34: I agree, Capitalism is great for allocation of services and resources 'when people have a choice to buy or not to buy' But for critical needs where you need the service or item it should be under a socialist model. We have been doing that for years ,, Water, electricity, mail, military, libraries, schools,,, all these are set up in a socialist model.
