Fog Swept Glade: Do you believe that saying yes, sir or ma‘am to people in authoritative positions is indicative of poor impulse control or misplaced love? It‘s my belief that it‘s ok to use such lingo, & that it accents many theatres nicely..particularly in times of unawareness.

yippeskippy: No, I think its indicative of respect. That's basically like when kids don't say yes sir or ma'am to their elders. I'm not saying we are 'children' of authoritative figures. But you can tell when someone has good manners by how they treat you. And, they aren't like that just for show, it's a part of their character.
