Boardwalk Empire Mew_: I still can't believe that they killed Jimmy's Chrachter off this season.I really thought that he had a chance to take over Nooky's spot by season 4..lol < not to mention he was very easy on my eyes> Nooky had me fooled. I'm very eager to see how the next season unfolds.  I_L0V3_Y0u: I saw Jimmy's death as imminent. I've watched so many re-runs from start to finish. If you really pay attention to Jimmy's life, from the time he screwed his mother, to going into the military and coming back, him and Al-Capone hi-jacking the bootlegger's vehicles (strike 1 against Nucky), then listening to his father and standing up against Nucky at their public dinner (that was when Margaret wanted the lobster, and they had just run out....and Nucky saw them eating it just across from his table).....then when Eli talked Jimmy into ordering Nucky being killed, and he when Jimmy walked up to Nucky to show the hit man who to shoot (that was the last straw). In the end, Nucky had to make a decision.....either Eli had to go or Jimmy. Nucky knew that Eli was remorseful, and Eli DID actually come back kissin Nucky's a.ss before, and Nucky spat in his face, which was why Eli was bitter and just wanted Nucky dead. So Nucky asked Arnold Rothstein for advice before making that final decision to let Jimmy go. Angela's death had Jimmy so screwed up in the head, turning him into a heroin addict. He snapped......choked his mother......and killed his own father. I am a writer myself, so Jimmy's demise wasn't very shocking to me at all. The only thing that surprised me, I actually expected Manny to be the one to bust a cap in him. They built it up to climax that way. Jimmy was a loose canon. How successful of a business man could Jimmy be as a heroin addict, and after all the bridges he kept burning ? Nucky, Mickey Doyle, Manny Horvitz.....Jimmy fell on his own knife......the only person that betrayed Jimmy was Jimmy. All the s.hit started after he f*cked his mother. He wasn't right since. I truly believe that Jimmy went into the military to die after screwing his mom. He'd been on a death mission ever since he came back home. The writer's based Jimmy's story on that of Oedipus (check out that story on Wikipedia). Oedipus' life was a shambles - he slept with his mother, killed his father...and it only got worse after all that. Mew_: I will have to reread your whole post when i have more time Afrodyte. This show is one of might favorite thing to do on a Sunday night..lol <hugz> C ya Later! I_L0V3_Y0u: Girl, Nucky is my favorite character. I watch that show religiously. Boardwalk and Hell on Wheels. I love t.v. that teaches. And this shows quite vividly how crazy the 1920's prohibition was, plus inside and behind the scenes of the political game and gangster life. Personally, I can't stand guns, and usually avoid watching stuff that uses them. However, when it comes to such historical works, I make an exception for those 2 shows. Mew_: I disagree about who was really remorseful. Nooky's brother ELi will screw him over again because of jealousy. He should of killed ELI if he had any ballz. The thing with Jimmy, yes he was self destructive and atill a bit wet behind the ears.He was remorseful the day that he helped Nucky with Federal case and then brought Chalky White back into the fold by bringing the KKK members that killed his friends to meet their heLL. Jimmy called Nucky to meet with him with real regret unlike his brother just trying to manipulate his way out of another bad deal gone awry..I think if the Nucky would of forgiven Jimmy for past transgressions they would of made a fantastic duo, especially under Nucky's close tutorialidge <LOL is that even a word> In the end Nucky made the wrong decision.................... I_L0V3_Y0u: I do agree with you, Eli IS jealous of Nucky. Honestly, in my opinion....."I" trust Jimmy more than Eli, however considering Jimmy's addiction, his building hatred of his mother (you could SEE it in his eyes while he watched her carry his son up the stairs; then she says: "I'll be up here" basically beckoning him), and what Angela's death was doing to him. Jimmy was going to wind up dead anyway. Did you read about Oedipus ? The whole reason they threw in the Oedipus twist to the story, was so that people could understand why Jimmy had to die. Everything wrong and messed up about his life began the moment he f*cked his mother. That is ultimately what killed him, because he ain't been "right" in the head since. I'm not tryin to be funny, but the ONLY thing I hold against the writers. I wanted Jillian taken OUT. I do not TRUST Tommy in her care. UGH! Mew_: hat about Jimmy's Right Handman? The guy with the mask? I think he will go after the person that killed Jimmy's wife since he was in love with her. Possibly end up working for Nucky later...I so Love the Irish guy who came in the story last season for Nucky. I_L0V3_Y0u: Richard Harrow, yes......I was hoping Harrow would get to clean up that mess before the season end. We'll have to see what unfolds.
