He broke his Knee in half, had a surgery and he was out for a year and a half. So they striped the belt from him. Returned in 2005 and he was champion again in 2008. Lost the belt in 2009 from Brock Lesnar. And now it looks like he is going for a tittle shot again on 2012! Frank just keeps coming! He never gives up! When Nogueira landed those shots on Mir and he went down i was like "oh shit!" Frank Mir very intelligently covered his face on the ground and had the back of the head wide open, and as all MMA fans should know :hits on the back of the head are not allowed! So Nogueira had to work those shots from the side but that was to risky Cardio wise cause Frank Had the single ready with his left hand was on his foot waiting for the opportunity. Nogueira realized that this was the opportunity to choke him cause his neck was right there! A BJJ specialist can see that. And he took it. Went for the anaconda choke and then he switched to darse choke if i spell it correctly. When that happened i was like "oh triple shit" lol cause we all know what big Nog has done on the ground. I thought the fight was going to end there. SO when Mir(after receiving Knees and punches) Rolled his way out of the choke and then taking Nogs arm while he moved his legs to the other sides to get side control was just Pure Skill! I was like "wooooooooooooow" And then Nog intelligently rolled to escape it but Frank Held on to that Kimura only to roll him back to the same position they where Plus getting the correct leverage on side control to finish Nog. It was amazing!! Joe Rogan(black belt Jiu jitsu and commentator of the UFC said it). Frank got the submission of the night award and Dana White(President of the UFC) said that it was the Submission of the century!! And Mr Sandras Ninja Santa is calling at a fluke??? Sorry but i could not hold my self there and i had to answer to that. As for the Ortiz fight. Little Nog held his posture on Titos guard and he landed those shots really well and there were a few shots to the body which cut off Titos breathing. He held on but for how much longer? It was a bad night for Him and an amazing Night for Little Nog. Things like that happen. And last the Jones vs Machida. Machida got Jones worried on the first round cause Lyoto was keeping his distance pretty well on the first round and he won the round too. So Jones had no choice but to Clinch with him or take him down and he did that. Ans he successfully Got the standing Guillotine(Greco-Roman technique) and choking Machida out on the second round. All in all I think hes a good fighter and has come a long way since that injury....
