The reason I do not buy Apple products (Page 3) Geoff: I am a web developer, I have to have a mac available to make sure that our customers who are concerned about appeasing the poncy hipsters have websites that work on Apple. Aside from that I have three computers on my desk, a WinXP desktop for general work, a Win7 laptop that I tend to end up using for most things, and a linux machine used as testing server. Since I know what I am doing, none of them crash more often than the mac. Marvin at work: Think Apple makes the same mistake as Microsoft in the beginning. A closed system is not good in this universal world. seahunt: A little late to the thread but WTH. Before I melted down and moved to the "boonies" a few years ago I was in the computer industry for almost 22 years - I worked for repair shops fixing PCs & Macs (I have actually even serviced VIC-20s and Apple IIs back in the day), worked in a lab hand building prototype boards for testing before they would go into production, owned my own service and retail shop business for years doing repairs from software to board level hardware repairs on laptops, phones, and game systems and selling tons of laptops. I still dabble, but don't do it day to day now. My take is computers are all tools to do a job. When I need to do something I use what will do it best. I don't really care who makes it. Never understood the whole fanboy "mine is better thing". I just set up an inventory control & point of sale system for a 30000 sq ft retail business - used a Dell server with a few real basic PCs for registers . Setup a video editing system for non-tech people to easily edit dive videos & burn DVDs, used an iMac. Each did the job best with the best bang for the buck. At home, I use a Macbook Pro that has OSX and Windows on it. I also own one of the new iPads, an iPod Classic 160 and have an old P4 desktop in my boathouse that I download my dive computer to sometimes. I also had a HP DV series laptop, but never used it so I gave it to a friend of mine who is an old grumpy tribal fisherman that is just learning how to use a PC. the real slim DEEPy: if you buy an osX machine, you still have to purchase win7/8 and install in bootcamp, or parallel desktops to play the latest, greatest pc games, and the gfx card selection for imacs is stillpiss poor Fruitbat_FLA: My personal experience: I have to dedicate far less time to maintaining Linux than any other operating system I have used. I would avoid windows altogether if I did not need it for certain tasks. Blondini: The only apple product I own is inside my fruitbasket. It's red and delicious and healthy. Have fun with your show-off-stuff, I don't envy you (Post deleted by Graceisgoin ) RandomMale: sick and tired of popups , viruses and trojans ..... damn windows has all its door open to the outside door. Apple is not perfect but has not got its door open to the outside world reallydirtydaddy: because I don't want to install itunes just to use a device - don't like windows 10 because of them wanting a microsoft login either! toolman6918: I don't buy Apple because I think it's trendy and presumptuous and way too expensive for what you pay for. psychodelish: yes that too, they are to electronics what north korea is to politics therefore I boycott all apple HappyWesty: I supported Mac workstations at work way back in 1996. They were so slow. The newer ones are faster, better to use of course. From what I have seen of the way that MS has screwed up Windows 10 a Mac is looking mighty good about now! But if you want a real OS - use Linux. Ramaubelucas: Start part time job online using internet and earn money cash: join http://doearning.com/?id=92158 psychodelish: this doesnt surprise me. they took customer binding to a whole new level, an illegal level to scam YOU, loyal apple lover lol. They even designed screws of there own so the average diy guy's tool box wont have a driver that fits. they copyright schematics, making it illegal to share them or sell them, to do your own repairs. the alternative??? buying a new computer opposed to a 2 minute free fix in one of these cases Im not surprised how they slowed performance down with one of the upgrades on older models either. I'm sure that prompted many users to go out and buy a new iphone fkr's. Angry Beaver: Never felt the need to own an apple product, always just seemed like a trendy thing to me, not based on actual performance... | Technology Chat Room Similar Conversations |
