Biggest Future Tech You are Looking Forward to? Metaverseguy: You know I got this auto vacuum that does all the sucking itself. Let's face it I suck enough. Anyways, what new tech are you excited for in the future? VR, new fast trains, space tourism, robots, etc. I've seen a test robot that looks awesome. Honestly, so many people focus on things in the future that will help them like money, travel, get better gas mileage etc. etc. sometimes things that improve our well-being are as simple as a day off from work, good meal, good news, phone call from a friend. anyways, that shit is gay, but seriously is anyone really going to be excited about stepping on a rock that is a little farther from the sun from us? the coolest tech change will be shit that makes more of our dreams come true. because every damn day they are continuing to be crushed. chronology: Hi Music, I wrote about this on my Trivia Blog a while ago, the problem is not the technology, it is the buildings and business procedures that do not support them. For example most security guards and cleaners have been redundant in Offices for a decade or more. A Office Manager can handle the entire opening and closing and deal with any alarms from an Android APP, but the fact stopping the control of Office Security to a Manager is that buildings have never been built to support the Office Artificial Intelligence. All windows need sensors to report they are open or closed, all doors giving entry or exit need electric motors to close or open them if need be, extensive CCTV is needed in every room to 'clear' the building for closing, few Offices have them. Same with cleaning, when staff leave, trollie like machines can put in place most chaires under desks to allow wandering vacumes to hoover the floors, windows are not designed to allow speed cleaning by trollie machines neither are rest rooms. Most Office staff can work from home PCs, but few Businesses as yet feel comfortable with this. To reconstruct most buildings to fit in with AI would cost at least 200.000 dollars, and with most security guards and cleaners wages being the same as most businesses spend on rest room paper each week, the chances of any Business being motivated to spend cash like that is unlikely. Operating Theatres in Hospitals can be managed for many Operations by only a Surgeon In total control of a Multi Armed Robotic operating machine. Here there is room for cost saving, Operating Theatre staff are expensive and can be replaced. But if Unions representing the Medical Staff can keep convincing Lawmakers humans are needed in Theatres, then Lawmakers are not going to sign off on changing Regulations. Pilots, Ships Captains, Locomotive Drivers, all can be replaced today, but again, if their Unions can keep convincing Lawmakers you need a Homo Sapian at the wheel, there is not going to be changes. Prisons as well can be virtually fully automated, but Prisoners Human Rights supporters will keep saying you need Humans walking around. Eventually when new building replace old, devices will come as standard to allow AI to run the buildings under Management supervision, but this is decades away And so long as Union Representatives can keep the attention of Lawmakers, Professional Workers jobs are safe. Cladgamer: I'm excited for talking intelligent robots. Ya know, like a person but without organic matter. I'm excited to meet a robot🙂 (Post deleted by ThyDemonsBeScribblin ) Metaverseguy: "Most Office staff can work from home PCs, but few Businesses as yet feel comfortable with this." I think it has more to do with companies assuming they will slack off more, if they work remotely. People already slack off at the job, sometimes hanging around for hours not doing anything while clocked in. If they are at home watching youtube or some streaming tv, they shouldn't be 'on the clock'. Metaverseguy: I got a swiffer mop I feel like the Jetsons. Got an old phone feel like the Flintstones mine_caprices: teleportation machine - transporter and food replicator both from star trek and not necessary by that order also no payment system Dr Shaz: I'm keenly interested in the digital applications to health care. Obviously, caution needs to be exercised as well, but having my surgeon be able to digitally map my entire body, and potentially be able to know what's occurring on a proteomic/metabolomic level is something of great interest to me. I was also interested in the privacy aspect of these 'digital twins', the ethical considerations are simply mind-boggling. Metaverseguy: @Dr Shaz, I used to follow medical futurism groups and articles pretty often. One big movement was doctors and scientists speculating that growing organs from stem cells was not only possible, but would be available as soon as 2015. Unfortunately, that year came and went and if you suffer liver or kidney damage you suffer the same procedures that someone would face 20 years ago. I think I saw a special, where they wanted to graft human organs on a plant, like using lettuce or cabbage as scaffolding. It was pretty weird, but somehow seemed to work for them. deacon7771: This is a wonderful subject to discuss! In the interest of making it interesting.... I will be honest and candid and tell the truth about the future tech that I am most looking forward to: SEX ROBOTS!! That's right, I said it, "sex robots." Now, seriously, wouldn't it be so totally awesome to have a "perfect lover" who looked so sexy, and who ALWAYS wanted sex when you did, and who could be programed with the perfect script for you and your personal wants, fetishes, whatever. If you wanted a super kinky "S and M" thing then no problem at all, no persuading anyone to try something they are not interested in, just select the "s and m dominant lover" on the dial and give it a try. Maybe the next day you want something totally different, and it would just be so wonderful to know that you will get exactly what you want, whatever you want, whenever you want it, and know that tomorrow you can have something totally different if that is what you want then. I suppose that some people will think that a "sex robot" would be beneath them to use, that it would just be some sort of masturbating machine, but I seriously do believe that the relaxation and enjoyment that a person gets from good sexual intercourse is HEALTHY, both physical and mental health NEED some good sex from time to time and a sex robot would be a very real and significant advancement for the human race. Cygnus X: Beautiful women will be SOL when advanced sex robots become mainstream. The first ones that will afford them will be guys that are rich, creating a dead end for the goldiggity types. WineNSarcasm: You realize, of course...that sex robots are only receptacles, right ? there is no emotion there deacon7771: WineN Sarcasm, the "no emotion there" is actually a GOOD thing, seriously, most men WANT for the women in their lives to not bring so much damn drama along with them. A sex robot might not "cry at her wedding" or have any feelings at all, but she also will NEVER throw temper tantrums, get jealous, or feel possessive of "her man" like most wives feel about their hen-pecked slave husbands who dare not come home a half hour late or ever even look at another woman. Believe me, "no emotion there" even if it comes at the cost of no intellect at all (except for the programming downloaded) and no interesting conversations is a VERY GOOD thing. Men fantasize about all sorts of odd things, some would dearly love to hear a woman in the throes of a wild orgasm, and they NEVER honestly tell their wife or girlfriend what they really want, but with a sex robot, any wild fantasy is just a programming session away. Want to hear her panting and screaming "oh it's so BIG!" well, a real woman would almost certainly not be able to "pull off a convincing act" or fake an orgasm like that (maybe she could if she is a professional escort costing $2,000 an hour), but a sex robot could easily give a man any fantasy he wanted and then instantly change to the next odd fantasy he wanted in only minutes. If a man feels inadequate about his penis size or skills as a lover, he can program his sex robot to shamelessly behave as though she is being made love to by a super lover, and the sex robot will not dump guilt trips or shame on him. In an instant, the same sex robot can be reprogrammed to be a strict dominatrix with a riding crop in her hand, and the sex robot will never tell.... Likewise, women could have their sex robots custom made, with exactly the face, hair, features exactly to their liking. These sex robots could be programmed to be completely selfless and generous, endless stamina and they would never get a woman pregnant, they would never have any sexually transmitted diseases, they would never get drunk, they would never waste your day while they "are watching the game" or anything else on T.V. Women could have their fantasy sex robot who would never get fat, never go bald, never ever have erectile problems and who would be perfectly sized, and more over he could be reprogrammed any time, larger, smaller penis size as a woman may wish, he could speak with a heavy French accent and telling his owner that she is the most beautiful woman in the world in one minute, and then be reprogrammed to be a rogue pirate, a tough guy, a ski instructor, a cowboy, you name it he's yours to program exactly as you like as your wish may change. WineNSarcasm: "selfess and generous" ?? Are you serious ? I repeat. They are receptacles only. Machines. That's it. They know nothing. They are programmed. If men "have a problem..I get that, but please, please do not equate them to a real, live human being Cygnus X: You really underestimate technological advances, WineNSarcasm. Did you not see the movie "Her"? This technology exists in it's infancy in labs, being furthered along at a rapid pace. WineNSarcasm: Haven't seen the movie, no. Don't want to. Don't intend to. It just boggles the mind to think that a human can equate machinery with flesh and blood. And, if you want that much power and control over something, why not just get a dog instead (of which, some I understand, have actually turned on their owners, so perhaps a "warning" should be included with the robots) deacon7771: WineN Sarcasm, I honestly feel sorry for you, you are so caught up in your anger about "a human can equate machinery with flesh and blood" that you are completely missing the point of this discussion and of the whole thread. Nobody is "equating" a machine to anything, a machine is simply what it is, no more nor less. Machines, created and built by human beings, have done much for humanity, they have not and never will replace human beings, anyone with a brain can see that. WineNSarcasm: "they have not and never will replace human beings, anyone with a brain can see that" Exactly my point. Thank you NoDreamcatcher: My son thought I was nuts when I told him to ponder the thought of Human beings coming about because robots wanted a self healing autonomous regenerating body. What do you think? deacon7771: NoDreamcatcher, that is a VERY interesting idea... so, some super-advanced race of robot like beings decided to "build" better bodies to inhabit, they used earth as a sort of development laboratory, and once the human race is evolved enough to accommodate the original beings' intellects and personalities, the humans would be "harvested" by some sort of collecting robots.... So, now all those "alien abductions" and "mysterious disappearances" are completely explained, they are simply people who are being harvested and getting their own brains sucked out to accommodate the new master. This could be a very interesting discussion, but still, I am actually a pretty shallow minded idiot and sex obsessed so I would much rather keep on the subject of "sex robots" so I can fantasize about how I will buy and customize my own "Bettie Page" look-a-like model, and then I will get the new "Sharon Stone Special - 'Basic Instinct' model with Ice Pick in hand." I could then send the ice pick wielding assassin robot to my enemies homes... Oh my! My imagination is running wild with the possibilities! The giant midget: I am personally looking forward to a robot that will administer Common Sense / Respect / Family Values into every human being Oh almost forgot a robot to eliminate Rapp Music full of profanity language | Technology Chat Room Similar Conversations |
