cheexx: I work as a SR. Systems and Network Administrator. There is no one in the company more senior than I am so it would be nice to have a few people on here to bounce ideas off for upcoming projects and solutions.

If you work in IT please reply to this post with your job title and a but about what your currently working on.

I am currently working on a VMWare cluster of three hosts, as well as visualizing exchange. we are also deploying iPads to users in the company and using Meraki MDM to manage them.

The13th: Oh what storage u using? I would surely avoid those iscsi that runs on 1gbit interface. You can add more fun if u throw in VMware replication.

cheexx: Hey man, it is iscsi it's a Lefthand (HP) P4000 series SAN 4 nodes with 4 nics so we run at 16Gb we only have about 30-40 VM's scheduled for the project and files servers as well as Exchange. HP spec'd out the solution and verified the storage would support it. We used to have a fiber channel SAN in place but it was aging. I've read about Azure personally I think MS is kinda late to the cloud game. what are your thoughts of it?

The13th: I work for hp for years and don't have a clue what lefthand is all about. Too engross with those bigger older storage they OEM from Hitachi.

I come to cloud even later than Microsoft so I am not complaining. They have this free trial USD200 and I like the fact that I can provision lots of things myself.

cheexx: i'm much like you i'd late to the cloud game also. the term "cloud" bothers me to be honest. there is nothing new about it really. at the heart of it its online storage, and resources stored in a remote location you access remotely. guys like us have been doing that for years. accessing videos, music, pics stored on a home "server" via various software, apps, command line tools. i guess it's just a rant but nothing about "cloud" is new to IT people.

The13th: True. But I tell u a secret. Cloud means I no longer need to struggle with sales people, service people, implementation people, network people, storage people etc. Sometime all these people can drain so much energy from u that, u just done have any more brain left for real creative stuff.
