Motorbike registration in the USA

germanbiker
germanbiker: I am planning a motorcycle vacation to the USA. There are options to rent a motorcycle, import one, or register a US motorcycle as a tourist. Can you explain to me whether I can register a motorcycle as a tourist? I found out that it is impossible in California. In Miami I have to give my own address in Miami. In Alaska it shouldn't be a problem, you just need someone to confirm a home address. That is the truth?

The giant midget: I live next door so I just ride my bike into the USA hahahahah
It's my bike my Canadian insurance
I your situation bit complicated
I personally would not import a bike into North America too much paperwork and headaches
I would not rent a bike either, too much paperwork and money.
I would buy a half decent bike ride it where ever you want afterwards when vacation is over you can sell it or take it back to your country

germanbiker: Ok. I wonder, I think, I understood, what you have told. Tanks. I was slapped once: 7 years ago, I started a journey to brazil. The f*****g Officer need 13 days (included one liberty-day) to accept my german bike. Other bikers, immigrated from Venecuela have no probs. One document 5 minutes and go. So I do not like to have the same procedre as in 2013. I checked out "Alaskas List", but there are lots of bikes with bad descriptions. I need to have full trust in the seller. It is tricky, I think. Best Easter-regards: Marc

The giant midget: Why Alaska its hundreds of km north of USA border, it's north western Canada near Russia
The amount of bikes in the whole state of Alaska equals the amount of bikes in 1 street alone in Miami or Cleveland
Alaska is covered with snow 9 months of the year so not many bikes out there

germanbiker: I have read about the media temperature in Anchorage. Sorry, I think you do not understand my prob. I want to registrate my fresh selled bike in the US. And my point of knowledgement is that this is not so easyly possible in the whole states-exept Alaska. OK, what ever. In this moment, I prefer exporting an own German registrated bike to the US. 1200 € shipping and than after the trip leaving it to the waste yard.

The giant midget: Okay now a know what you want.
You want to register your cheap motorcycle from abroad
To register that pile of iron is easy enough your biggest issue will be for DOT to legalize it roadworthy and safe
Department Of Transportation is the hardest to crack
1 see if you can register that bike in the continent of America any country in America that has ties with USA since that's where you are focused on your travels or maybe something else altogether , not my business anyway

2 try register that thing in Canada than cross into the USA , but the Canadian Ministry of Motor Vehicles is even harder that the USA

3 try not to travel into Canada, we are rude and very unwelcoming with people trying to import German motorcycle to obtain other agendas

Good luck
