Is Your Job Making You Miserable?

Jassypotpot
Jassypotpot: I have a feeling that most all of us work for the paycheck. I watch people around me and wonder if they truly enjoy what they're doing- day in, day out. I think most just go about their work life pretty much like zombies.
Finding your passion and getting paid well for doing it - Is this really reserved for only the very few? How does one lower the lifestyle they've gotten used to so that they can work for less money? I don't want to work for less. I can't afford it. I just want to be able to say and truly feel happy (fulfilled) about the work I do.

♥♥♥♥KittyCat♥♥♥♥: Never be afraid to move on - even if it feels scary. I have had to in recent months due to ill health, but in hindsight it is the best move I could possibly have made.

Even if you don't have work to go to but you need to leave then do so. What's the worst that could happen? No one will die!!

Be fearless and try to find something you love!!

PunkyMunkey: In my area here in Ontario there are very few jobs... I've got a good job that is salaried (because I'm a boss) but even the starting wage is good... 10$ an hour.... But I really don't like it. There are parts that I do like but for the most part I have no joy in doing most of my work. Most days I drag myself into work because I have bills. That is my convincing factor to going to work or calling in sick.... I know that right there is a BAD attitude to have. I don't want to stay here because I'm not happy but I need a job. I will not be a "bum". I will continue to put my resume out there at jobs I know I would like but I will continue to keep this job until I get a job I truly like.

hugs: It has been said...if your NOT happy in your job then it's time to go.
I did enjoy what i used to do but being stuck with owners who we're all for themself, who cares about nobody else i got very tired of all the bw^$y@#^ and moaning from those types.Ya try to help them see the light of getting more customers and making the customer happy and the (the owners/bosses) don't give a crap, even if it makes them more money...they didn't care.
I've always taken my work serious and work hard to see all is well but too often owners/bosses only see the weak person and they seem to get all the perks(the weaker worker),not the real workers.
Enough was enough.
If ya can't talk to your boss honestly..move on.
Boss talks behind your back..move on.
NEVER let the place your leaving know why since if they couldn't help you then...why should you help them.
They also say show how hard you work and how hard it would be to replace you, that's bunk! You can always be replaced, mainly for a lower paid person. Many businesses(mainly factories here)change many employees every year or two because it let's them pay a lower wage to the new hires and cuts off alot of the benefits.

I have a question for all of you.
What is the purpose of a "resume"? I've seen sooo many versions i just don't know what's better to use,let alone even try doing one.
I chatted live with a person from those places where you can put your job skills, qualifications etc and asked them this....
What if a person did a resume with bogus companies, places that could not be reached or are out of business. How could a human resource person verify what's correct?
They said...it happens alot! And often...companies don't waste time calling for work ref's so a person could very well put down what they like to help them get the job.
A risk?Sure but it happens often, and often those people get the jobs as fast as the others do.
I found that interesting.

cartagena: work place bullying? In my work place, im one of the regular victims (and im not proud of it). Going to class is my part time job where kids got onto my heads...my real job is where im the victim of the Big Bully...the Big BOSS.

What do u do when people got onto ur head? u kill them. But, because we're civilized, i embrace the non-barbarian way. the set back is, the most i cld do to the kids were talking harshly to them just to let them know I am mad. that was it...pathetic huh. I wish I could do more to get back to them...but Im grateful I still got my sense intact.

cartagena: Is there Anybody that has a bright solution to this?

The big Boss, well, she get mad over nothing...or maybe there was somthg, but it's not really a big deal. then after weeks of torments from her, her project moves on to a phase where my knowledge and expertise applied. It's during this phase that she goes easy on me, because she needs to consult me over that progressing project. to a certain degree, i cant help to resent her, but im not that heartless...so i help her as much as i could. another sad story huh...am i too nice? or is it..."that's no big deal".

Drac36: Punkey Munkey...I just left a fat salary in a corporate chain restaurant...I was a boss too. But being "boss" there simply meant that you worked about 60 hours for a salary. I was owned by the corporation. I broke down finally. I have small children whom I rarely see becasue of the food business and the hours required of me.
Now I work for 10 bucks an hour and never break a 30 hour work week. It's an easy life now, but I miss the money. BUt if you have to kill yourself for a paycheque, is it worth it?

geckohazlewood: It amazes me how many people I come in contact with that don’t believe that they can ever feel accomplished and it doesn’t have to be that way. Maybe they dropped out of high school, didn’t have the money to go to college, had to raise a family, uncertain of what their calling in life was or someone told them they screwed up and they had no other option but to work a minimum wage job for the rest of their life . No matter what the case is there is always hope and there’s never just one choice.

You have the choice to live a better lifestyle, to be your own boss, live your life on your terms and have no limit to your success. Have dream show everyone you didn’t screw up at anything. It’s scary to try something new but I assure you it is well worth it.

I love working with people and meeting new ones everyday helping them to achieve their dreams. I would love to meet you as well so if you would like to know more please feel free to contact me.

They treat me as if I am an idiot because when I get nervous I have a hard time speaking. All I would like from them is a little understanding but the more I let them know about me the more they bully me.

This isn't the only job this has happen to me. I should could use some ideas about how to handle myself better.

cradlmeier: I got a business degree and ended up working Media Relations for a few years. I finally got sick of working 90-5 and...just didn't really like having to work for someone else for next to nothing (kinda makes you mad right??I mean, why should i give the best hours of the day to someone else???!!!) . My friend ended up introducing me to an awesome home-based business - she's been super successful and I'm now on my way too! Not that it doesnt take dedication, cause it does, but it's definitely nicer to work on my own time!

BPenfold: Im a gate attendant at a community and I love my job. All the residents are so nice and all of them like me a lot. The problem is I work with one other person who is my boss and he makes me not want to go into work because he says and does mean things to me. As of now I have to be on time for a years, not a minute late or ill be fired. I work 24 miles away and I take 3 freeways to get to work and there all crapy. Accidents are not excuses. Today 2 lanes were closed on a freeway and I made it to work right on the dot. I called my boss and in not so many words he said good luck or your fired. I cant do this anymore! But I love my job and do it well. My boss on the other hand is lazy and many times know one sees him or knows he's there. He is not even a real boss. His duties are the same as mine except he supervises but we answer to the same company. Does anyone know who i could talk to or what rights I have?

greenforever: I can totally agree with the job making you miserable. I advanced into management and spent a lot of time at work which i didn't mind, i was single and the only person it affected was me. I was finally financially stable and doing good for myself. Lol then of course life happened meaning i actually got one, met a great guy we started dating well you guys can fill in the blanks. Bought a house got engaged and now that great job keeps me from participating in my life and due to management changes it is no longer enjoyable. I mean I can see me missing my own bridal rehearsal cause i can't leave work how sad is that. But i also agree with those that are saying if you don't like your job do something about it. It can be small things or a drastic change depending on what works best for you. I keep cruising the want ads looking for something else that i would be happy with and like so many that have tried to promote their own thing I did start my own home business. But those can be tricky cause so many of them are scams. So my advice is know what you want first then make a plan and figure out how to accomplish it. Definately don't trust any get rich quick things they are mostly unstable as far as i know. Good luck to you all Hope things get better for you guys.
