attydallas3: Prayers for all my friends in Pensacola (hopefully my future residence, too). My good bud JewLou and his wife Rebekkah aren't answering their phone and I would guess their power is out. He hasn't sent out any emails today and hasn't acknowledged mine. They do have a top-of-the-line generator system, but oddly enough it runs off the natural gas system, and we all know that's the first thing cities shut off in a natural disaster to avoid leaks and explosions. They are on a hill though, so no flooding worries supposedly, and are on the north side of the city so they should also be safe from storm surge there.

attydallas3: Thanks, Chevy .. I had heard that all is well with her .. Still no word from my bud or his wife though .. I'm thinking he should have been able to get out of the destruction zone (unless they are "stranded" on that hill) and get somewhere a cellphone tower is still working .. I had heard though the mayor of Pens has asked that only text messages be sent and audio left for first responders ... Let's just hope for the best .. &:-) Paul

attydallas3: FINALLY was able to reach them by landline high-speed phone last night. I guess the high speed in their area had just been reactivated, and they didn't even know it yet - my call startled them after 4 days of silence. Thankfully, they are A O.K. They said their system generator had been running the whole time, continuing to provide power to everything (apparently the City did NOT cut off the natural gas lines) and, although there was no high water around their hill, they chose not to venture out in things. They had plenty of food and provisions, so they were able to get by w/o doing so. They did have a cherished, very large tree that went down in their front yard, which a neighbor cut up with a chainsaw to clear the street so traffic could pass through. My bud is also a major HAMer (amateur radio broadcaster) of like 50+ years and he said the winds destroyed his base station's 50' twin antennas on the roof before he could take them down. Otherwise, sounds like they were very lucky. &:-) Paul
