La Cucaracha Cafe

Years ago, before facebook, instagram, and probably before this site, there was AOL... Then YAHOO CLUBS (which was before Yahoo Groups)... My name on AOL and Yahoo was MittyRoach.....so of course when creating a Yahoo Club, what else than La Cucaracha Cafe would be appropriate..? And no, the story of how I got the MittyRoach moniker had nothing to do with roaches....or well.. maybe it did.. I'm not quite sure. The story goes, we (I was married at the time) had just gotten our FIRST brand new $3000 computer.. It was an HP Pavillon and had maybe 8mb of ram...and not even close to a gigabyte for hard drive storage...but it had a built in picture scanner slot... And lots of software! How I loved using Gold Disk, Photoshop, and whatever else it came with. Anyway, my (now ex) husband was setting up AOL and no screen names would work for me.. Everything we tried was already taken! He was able to use his CB handle "Berglar" as his own screen name, but NOTHING we tried worked for me... I did not want to be identified as "xpi 541850sESB3001" or whatever AOL kept suggesting... It was getting frustrating..AOL even said MrsBerglar was already in use! Then ::insert fanfare music:: my neighbor and awesome friend from childhood Tricia popped over... She had found a story she had written back in high school featuring SpaceChick and Mighty Roach... Well, of course Tricia HAD to be SpaceChick.. After all she could do the most amazing Marvin Martian impression.. "Vvvvvvvvvvvt!" Yeah, SHE could do THAT! My friends are a skillful bunch..k? And I do have stories I could share but then she would share stories about me...so as childhood friends go, we relish that we were kids BEFORE the internet and leave it at that. Anyway, I became "Mighty Roach spelled and pronounced "MittyRoach" in that oh so glorious moment.... Then soon after La Cucaracha Cafe opened up in Yahoo Clubs. They ::sigh:: it got deleted because I gave so many people moderator powers.. My reasoning was so everyone could change the group picture, change colors, add files, etc etc.. However, such power got the club deleted ::sigh::: Anyway, good news! It is back! Yep, on facebook! So if you are on Facebook, and want to check out an amazing insectual experience, check out the La Cucaracha Cafe... And nope, u do not have to "friend" anyone to become a member... Peace!
