I believe we should be proud of our country. A quote is a quote. It should not be amended or watered down. The news media should not be afraid to use the "Love of Christ" part. Why they state, “Because, using the words Christ or God might offend someone!” Well, now it's my turn to be offended! I'm offended that the news media would edit it out. Offended that Christians are being asked to tread lightly, so as not to offend someone of another religion. This man, Jesus, loved God, loved his people, loved the world, and gave his life for the sins of all people. Those who “believe in Him, and accept Him as their personal Savior, will have everlasting life!!!” This Founding Principle is actually embedded in our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Why would the left lopsided media continue to edit this truth?! This is by a daughter of a murdered couple in Raytown, MO, who had a Bible and Bookstore on 63rd street.
She says: "When I had 2 testify at the murder trial of my parents a week ago, I was asked 2 raise my right hand. The bailiff started out, "Do u swear 2 tell the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth?"
I stood there & waited but she said nothing. She said "Do u?"
I was so stunned I blurted out "What happened 2 'so help me God?' "
She came back with "Do u?"
I replied yes, but I was perplexed
Then the judge said. "u can say that if u want 2"
I stopped, raised my right hand & finished with: "So help me God!"
I told my son & daughter that when it came time 4 them to testify, they should do the same
I don't know what can b done about it but it's time 4 us 2 step up & DO something
NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls and the percentage was the same as this:
86% 2 keep the words, 14% against...
That is a pretty 'commanding' public response. I was asked 2 send this on if I agreed .... or delete if I didn't
Now it is ur turn. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having 'In God We Trust' on our money & having God in The Pledge of Allegiance. Why is America-- our nation -- catering 2 this 14%? YES, WHY??
