I am now crying. I'm such a girl.

Today in downtown San Diego, I watched a blue collar Mexican man get harassed for being Mexican. It was a blatant act of discrimination. And the man actually began crying. As he left the office building, he took off his jacket. His t-shirt underneath read, "I love the USA!" MMT

Today, I was traveling in Kenya and I met a refugee from Zimbabwe. He said he hadn't eaten anything in over 3 days and looked extremely skinny and unhealthy. Then my friend offered him the rest of the sandwich he was eating. The first thing the man said was, "We can share it." MMT

Today, my cousin died. He has been a Marine for 6 years. He fought for our country overseas on 3 separate tours in Iraq. He came home on leave 2 weeks ago and was killed by a drunk driver. MMT

Today, after spending the last 3 years viciously bickering with the college kid who lives next door, I found myself crying in his arms and thanking him repeatedly for saving my son's life. MMT

Today, at work, a woman and her young daughter came to my register. The girl was hugging her mother's leg and being very well behaved. She kept saying, “I love you mommy.” Suddenly, her mom jerked her leg and said, "Get off!" The young girl walked 15 feet behind her mother the whole way to their car. MMT

Today an old woman at the gas station came up to me and said, "I'm so embarrassed, but could you help me?" I thought she was going to ask for money, but she told me that last week her husband died and she had never pumped gas before. She had no idea what to do. MMT

Today I was approached by a homeless man who asked if I had any change. I only had two dimes, but I gave it to him anyway. As I watched him walk away, he put the dimes in an expired parking meter of a strangers car. MMT

Today, I saw a pretty scary looking guy who had a tall blue mohawk and tattoos and piercings all over his body. He was helping my elderly neighbor take her trash down to the curb. My neighbor told me afterwards that the guy was just walking by and offered to help. MMT

Today, my water broke at my husband's funeral. MMT

Today, after a 72 hour shift at the fire station, a woman ran up to me at the grocery store and gave me a hug. When I tensed up, she realized I didn’t recognize her. She let go with tears of joy in her eyes and the most sincere smile and said, “On *******01, you carried me out of the World Trade Center.” MMT

Today at Walmart, I saw a little kid begging his dad for change. His dad gave him four quarters. The kid then quickly walked past the gumball machines and placed each quarter, one at a time, into a donation jar that said, “Buy a starving child a meal this holiday season.” MMT

Today, I was in my car approaching an intersection where a white Ford F-350 was blocking both lanes at a flashing yellow light. Just as I was about to honk and scream obscenities out the window, I realized the truck was purposely blocking traffic so an elderly man could safely cross the street. MMT

Today, I got lost in Manhattan. As I stood on the sidewalk trying to get someone’s attention for a little assistance, 25+ well dressed business folks blazed by me, purposely avoiding eye contact. Finally a teenager with spiked green hair and a pierced lip stopped, smiled and gave me perfect directions. MMT

Today, as I waited impatiently at a red light, the car in front of me was far behind the line so I honked and the driver thought I honked because the light turned green, so she let go of her brake and ran the red light... and got fatally slammed by a semi-truck. MMT

Today, I gave a turkey sandwich to homeless man who always sleeps on a bus stop bench near my restaurant. He thanked me and then immediately tore the sandwich in half, walked across the street, and handed the other half to another homeless man. MMT

Today, and every weekday at 9AM for the last 4 years, I have walked past the same 3 street bums on my way to work. One of them is always strumming a guitar and the other 2 are always singing. And they all have huge smiles on their faces. Sometimes their smiles are the only smiles I see all day. MMT

Today, I teased my 27-year-old cousin when I realized that he was afraid of fireworks... But only until I found out that it's not the fireworks themselves, but the sounds they make that remind him of the gunshots he heard overseas. MMT

Soo.. This is my post just to give you all a heads up, if you care.


I start my second job sunday. 3rd shift.
Why a second job?
Well. My sister and her boyfriend just broke up.
He moved out.
She can't afford to support her 2 kids.
I am going to move in with her and help her pay her bills..
I don't really want to.. But.. I don't know what else to do..
She has no computer. No internet.
I'll probably be moving in next week.
And.. It's going to be a few till I can afford a new laptop and internet.

And for any of you that were in the skype call a while ago.. I would like you to know that my second job.. is a nursing assistant. so.. yes.. ASS WIPPING
Thankfully, I got 3rd shift.. so.. I don't have to bath or feed.
Just.. you know.. watch people sleep.. document.. some cleaning, and occasional restroom stuff.

it's not a dream job. But, I still have my job in Life Enrichment, which is a first shift job.
for janked up sleeping patterns.

Now.. I'll just ride this out for 2 years.. turn 21, and apply for an international airport.

I don't like..

when friendships fade.
when.. you can't put your finger on it.. But you know things are different.
