Dimple_Gal: Disturbing emotions not only disturb our own state of mind, they also disturb the minds of others. Self-centredness gives rise to fear and insecurity, which in turn creates distrust. This is why having an altruistic attitude brings a great sense of happiness and peace of mind.

Dimple_Gal: Anyone looking honestly at life will see that we live in a constant state of suspense and ambiguity. Our minds are perpetually shifting in and out of confusion and clarity. If we could be confused all the time, that would at least make for some kind of clarity. What is really baffling about life is that sometimes, despite all our confusion, we can also be really wise! This constant uncertainty may make everything seem bleak and almost hopeless; but if you look more deeply at it, you will see that its very nature creates “gaps,” spaces in which profound chances and opportunities for transformation are continuously flowering—if, that is, they can be seen and seized.

Dimple_Gal: The human capacity to care for others isn’t something trivial or something to be taken for granted. Rather, it is something we should cherish. Compassion is a marvel of human nature, a precious inner resource, and the foundation of our well-being and the harmony of our societies. If we seek happiness for ourselves, we should practice compassion: and if we seek happiness for others, we should also practice compassion.

Dimple_Gal: The very purpose of spirituality is self-discipline. Rather than criticizing others, we should evaluate and criticize ourselves. Ask yourself, what am I doing about my anger, my attachment, my pride, my jealousy? These are the things we should check in our day to day lives.

Dimple_Gal: Be mindful with what you say. By the way, all the emails, sms, bbm, messages, etc. are included as different forms of speech. I always feel that talking too much is not good. If you can't control your mouth (or your fingers), it can be difficult to tame your mind. There are 4 types of wrongful speech you should avoid: lies - to misrepresent the truth for your egoistic benefit; divisive speech - to create disharmony between people; harsh speech - to hurt others; and idle chatter such as gossips - with no purpose at all. If you talk, say something beneficial, especially to share the teaching of the Saints and enlightened ones, that is if you know anything at all. Otherwise, keep silent. That's the best policy. ~ His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa

Dimple_Gal: "Often we look for happiness in the wrong places, in what we don’t have. Our complaints send happiness into hiding. We think about the things that are missing in our life rather than all the wonderful reasons to be happy right here, right now." - His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa in "Everyday Enlightenment"

Dimple_Gal: Before you learn how to love others, first learn how to love yourself. By "loving yourself", it doesn't mean that you have to be selfish and always consider situations or circumstances from your own angle. It means to check and look at yourself when things, in your own opinion, go wrong or do not work according to your wishes. If you have the habit of blaming others for your unhappiness and suffering, you are not loving yourself, you are in fact hating yourself, because you'd end up being unhappier, you'd feel that the whole world has gone against you, even your own Guru that you rely on has betrayed you. Your ego is hurt so it tells you this, because your ego tells you that you are always right, others are always wrong, but actually it is not true. You need to check yourself constantly with honesty, if you are gradually becoming a genuinely happier person, that tells a lot! That tells that you are gradually loving yourself and that you are a genuine spiritual practitioner. ~ His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa

Dimple_Gal: Before you speak, check your motivation and ask yourself, "Why do you want to speak?" This is why in the Buddha's teaching of the Eightfold Path, which gives us the solution of ending our suffering, Right Speech is one of them. When you speak harmoniously, comfortingly, trustworthily and sincerely, you generate some sort of positive energy or aura that attracts people positively and your words become a great gift. When people react positively to your speech, doesn't your life become better and happier? Doesn't your suffering become lesser? As I said, we are doing the wrong things, having the wrong motivations, yet we expect to be happy. We are definitely looking at wrong places for happiness. ~ His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa
