Tens of thousands of families torn apart; killed; crushed within their homes as they collapsed upon them in both Syria and Turkey. And all because of the Capitalist profit system. Profiteer landlords, saving a little bit of money for themselves, bypassing building integrity within a notorious earthquake faultline.

This is a classic example of profit being placed before health and safety, and governments looking the other way. Of course the wealthy Class in these Capitalist societies, live in earthquake proof housing, so nothing will change.

Indeed only Socialist revolution and the prospect of classless society could ever secure a future in which such worries, as being crushed to death as you sleep become a part of history.

What I wrote above was criticism of the intrinsically flawed Capitalist system, which is a World-wide problem. So not a specific criticism of the so called United States

(although the USA does so much evil so often I am not surprised you automatically assume someone is criticising it [chowomanishere])

You ask how many come to help America when in crisis. If we consider War to be a crisis (and it is) then the answer is 'a great many' came to the aid of the USA in their recent nefarious assaults on the Islamic World (WW3 btw):
34 nations joined them for the illegal war against Gulf
30 nations joined them for the illegal war against Iraq
49 nations joined them for the illegal war against Afghanistan

Indeed [chowomanishere] I do loath the Capitalist system, of which the US is the largest, most powerful representative of.

And knowing that we as a species can freely decide to step away from this destructive, iniquitous system further fuels the determination of Socialists.

And what is the leader of Turkey offering to compensate the masses after this calamity? Today I heard he promised to rebuild each home and pay rents while this was happening. But what does that actually mean for the common people now homeless?

Sounds to me like Erdogan is assuring the very same parasitical landlord Class who are in fact responsible for all those deaths a continuation of their ill gotten income. In other words he is immediately compensating the criminals in the scenario; no mention of the reasons the original housing collapsed at all. Just the promise that the poor who rented will continue their miserable existence as non-secure tenants, in a new Govt. financed contract with their old corrupt landlords. More of the same is the best the leaders of Capitalism can offer
