If the stars fell: the entire point is... people have selective outrage... people give zero fuqs about the unjust killing of certain people... based exclusively on skin color
Nicotina: I think killing a human being is wrong yet in certain circumstances is legal. No earlier comment from me as I did not read my feed. I’m not going to get into a conversation about this as you’ve already come to a conclusion about me with regards to this issue.
Spurious_Profile: I don't want to enter the labyrinth that is the endless debate about racism and policing in the US. The only thing I would say is that I don't have an opinion on what went down based on a news article. The body cam footage should shed more light.
If the stars fell: no one is arguing that racism doesnt exist... that really isnt the point... it is of course that people claim that they care about police brutality, but its obvious that they only care if you have the right skin color.
cousnbruce: The Left harps quite a bit on tribalism and identity politics; as if that will help the country get rid of this problem called Donald Trump. Maybe they think if whites are afraid to say, "All Lives Matter" it is empowering. Bullying and intimidation tactics will backfire on the troublemakers setting our cities ablaze. Most of the people are fed up with the riots.
tularcitas: You might be right,,,but i think it really gets down to individuals, be they liberal or conservative, and the choices they make. People can be peaceful or not. I think many feel that trump is fomenting the divide we now have,
If the stars fell: i would agree, people are only making it worse, and they are building animosity in people that may have otherwise been on their side.
If the stars fell: also i dont like trump, but blaming everything on trump is kinda ridiculous considering that this country has been in a downward spiral for the last 40 years
Nicotina: BS about only caring about police brutality if the victim is of a certain skin colour. As a victim of police violence it is the violence that is the issue. Of course there are those who are going to take advantage of any divide, be it due to race, age, sex, whatever. Statistics show that people with darker skin are more often the victims of police violence per capita. Police violence is an issue that needs to be addressed and by saying people only care if the victim is black means that you have chosen to be part of the problem.
If the stars fell: its blatantly obvious that people only care about the people that are certain colors... in the complete silence about it when it happens to anyone that isnt black.
If the stars fell: it is just as wrong when it happens to a black man as it is when it happens to a white one... and as it stands i havent seen a single person rage and riot over a white man that was unjustly killed by police... and it happens far more often, regardless of per capita, and the varying crime rates. If people really where indiscriminate about it, you would think you would hear about it... at least once... ever lol
which is why i feel compelled to point it out, and actually be that person
tularcitas in reply to If the stars fell: I think a lot of the people who are typecast as liberals in a negative way,.do care about people of all color..I'm sure there are those in the conservative camp who feel that way as well. Humanism is not indigenous to any political affiliation but is a subjective individual proclivity.
If the stars fell: i didnt really say anything about political parties, im actually far more left than right... but i care about the actual truth regardless of what side it comes from. im not perfect, but i at least try to be objective.
tularcitas in reply to If the stars fell: Would it be fair to say that most of us know there is something terribly wrong with America right now and we are looking at right versus left rather than coming up with any viable solution to heal the country?
If the stars fell: the usa is certainly broken, and i feel like people are lashing out in the wrong way about the wrong things... it actually harms progress and doesnt really address the real root of the problem... which is a corrupt oligarchy and class warfare... they are using us against each other to stifle our power thus preventing us from being strong enough to do anything about it.
Nicotina: FFS, I'm white and I've been physically and sexually assaulted by the police when I was underage, but apparently that is of no consequence when I say something about police violence. I'm not even going to get into the difficulty of having a report taken seriously. The police are investigating the police. I'm really not sure how you think that my saying something about police violence means that I'm being divisive. I have friends and family members who are police officers, and I have a friend who was beaten by police to the point of having a concussion. He was white. I don't give a Fk what a person's skin colour is, police violence is wrong.
Nicotina: You keep implying that I'm not as outraged over police violence when it is committed against a white person as opposed to when it is against a black person.
If the stars fell: its not necessarily you specifically, its a narrative that people follow to varying degrees. You do do it some though, more often than not i would say
