My mom said to me her parents were cheaters, like her mom cheated on her dad & vise versa her dad cheated on her mom. & my mom told me her parents didn't care about her. Becuz when i grew up i always wondered why me, my brother & sister didn't have grand parents from my mom's side??. But my mom would often say to me its becuz they were jerks. They extend themselves outwardly, taking on and empathizing with the emotions of others, even their abusers. <The psychologist said no 1 is born this way. ok??. the interviewer said even in a family structure where you have a grand father, a father like these dominant or mother person it your not born a narcissist???. The psychologist said every 1 listening to this they will say there were 4 kids in this family & i have a brother whos narcissistic & the rest of us are really cool. & nice & kind to eachother. so think of how many people out there who have brothers/sisters like i'm my sister is really kind & my other sisters really really narcissistic. So its if thats the case then it should appear in all kids of the family. or at least 50 percent. The interviewer wondered so how is it made??. The psychologist said its made so heres the most likely explanation is that there may very well be this has not been isolated yet. But there may very well be a boloigical vulnerable to it & that would be probably delivered through something called a childs baby temperament. temperament is the gentic part of our personality. any 1 who spent time around a baby wont know that some kids smooth very easily. some kids are there just easy there easy smiley friendly babies. there really sweet kids. right??. & as they grow up they stay sweet & like teachers like them & they have friends & there just sweet sweet. Then there are those kids who will not stop crying & there demanding & as they grow up look at me & there always doing things for attention & there disruptive & they wont sit still & as they enter pre school & school the teacher is always shhh sit down, stop that. So there already starting to get kind of bad vibes from their constant attention seeking behavior. its probably a interaction in fact the kid may not be getting enough attention or attachment needs met. So you have this biological temp vulnerability. in the hands of a skilled attached, warm, present, loving, consistent parent that might be manageable & that sort of raaa energy might get turned into athletic interests or creative interests & that child wont feel pathologized for their style. But i hate to say it probably for the majority of kids with that style. its alot of stop that cant you be more like your sister???, sit down, your going in the corner, your making a mess your going to the princelpal's office. So that kid is getting invalidated every time they turn around. that invalidation, plus the temperament, plus the possibility that they dont have a an environment where theres a possibily for secure attachment, plus the possiblity of trauma, chaos & neglect. thats 1 path way to develop a narcissist. The interviewer says so what i hear you saying is when a child dont have their emotional needs met, and when there not feeling safe or secure in the house & their parents are addicts of some kind or struggle with mental health issues is that what leads to narcissism?. The psychologist said not always in fact i wouldnt say the vast majority of the time. Many many many many people grew up in situations like that of trauma, neglect, of abuse, of chaos & they do not go on to become narcissistic. They typically go on to become rather anxious adults wiith poor self appraisel, who dont know their value & worth a whole another diffrent burden to carry. But the narcissism. So its a umm but at the end of it what we see is that its still the problem is that these paths aren't linear. i always say narcissism is a story the development of narcissism is a story we can tell back wards but never forwards. So if i'm thinking i have some clients who have been threw horrific early childhood trauma, horrific. umm physical abuse, sexual abuse, violence, they grew up in chaos to tell you that these are some of the most empathetic, loving human beings i've ever met. Would actually be missing the mark, there just solid people, if anything they dont understand their value. Like their harm is very interalized its like i'm not good enough, i'm not doing enough. but theres so much goodness, so much empathy, they've gone on to become amazing parents all of that. So that its that early chaos does not damn someone by a long shot. But it does set up these what are called adverse childhood experiences. it definetly if we view this from a probability stand point. Theres more negative out comes that could come either internalized *disliking 1 self) or externalized & thats more what narcissism could potentionally look like. <<<See??? even the expert said it. some kids who come from shitty parents they are the most empathetic person you would ever meet. See my mom didn't become abusive, didn't get into drugs, or booz. What happened to me when i was born & i needed to be cared for other wise i was gonna suffer & may have died. My mom never went to work, my mom even if she did have a job she wouldn't last at them. Becuz my mom had to be with me like the doctors told her to be other wise i wont do well in life. & even tho my mom never sees her parents on father's day or mother's day or her birthday or christmases. My mom didn't become anything like her parents. My mom surpassed her own parents. My mom has been married longer then her own parents were. My mom never cheated on my dad like her parents cheated on 1 another. My mom gets all the compliments she gets every where i go. My mom gets called my gaurdian angel, my mom gets called a super mom, my mom gets called a god saint. Even on my dads facebook my mom gets called a special lady. for being a good wife to my dad. See my mom is the reason why i always miss the red flags in women. Becuz when my sister had her brain surgery happened to her when she was like 12 & i was like only 6. My sister could of been the most selfish person and thought of her needs. considiering she was seizuring and having brain surgery & needed to recover. but my sister was my baby sitter and my sister made my breakfasts, and lunches, did my laundry and my sister use to watch alot of tv shows or movies with me when i was not even 10. & my sister was using the computer long before me. But these last 6 years have been so quiet. i am not in any crisis situations, nothing. i mean i do better on my own then i do around a chick. Like when i am climbing the ladder & doing well then i meet a chick & now i fall down the ladder & have to climb up. Girls dont bring anything good to my life. When girls come in my life all the sudden i am in crisis situations.
