Grupo Vidanta

Grupo Vidanta is a Mexican conglomerate with its main focus on real estate, construction, financing, design, golf courses, the maintenance and operation of hotels, and resorts. Furthermore, the company is the owner and operator of Mar de Cortés International Airport.

Founded in 1974 by Daniel Chavez Moran, Grupo Vidanta has its headquarters in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. In 2015, the company employed 15,000 people and had an annual revenue in the region of US$750 million.

History of Grupo Vidanta

The company was founded by Daniel Chavez Moran in 1974.

In November of 2009, the company opened the Sonora based Mar de Cortes International Airport.

A new resort brand which was given the title of Vida Vacations was launched by the Vidanta family in December, 2010. The resort brands include The Grand Bliss, Grand Luxxe, The Bliss, The Grand Mayan, Sea Garden, and Mayan Palace.

Grupo Vidanta, in November 2014, opened Joya, which is a Cirque du Soleil theater resident show. It has a capacity of 600, and is located close to The Grand Mayan resort which is situated in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Grupo Vidanta, in 2015, made in investment in Spectre, the James Bond movie. The movies’ opening scene was set in Mexico.

Grupo Vidanta, in April 2016, was to sign a partnership agreement together with the Hakkasan Group. This deal, which was worth US$150 million, is the precursor of the development to new concept nightlife venues, restaurants, beach clubs, and a hotel which is to be built at the Vidanta Resorts in Mexico.

The company is currently building a Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico based theme park resort and have partnered with the Canadian Cirque du Soleil. The park resort has a scheduled opening time of 2018 and is said to have cost US$1.3 billion.


Vidanta Golf

Grupo Vidanta own six golf courses which are listed under the Vidanta Golf brand. The courses are located at Puerto Penasco, Acapulco, Nuevo Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Riviera Maya.

The company was responsible for the organization of the United Nations Cup golf tournament which is located at Puerto Penasco and takes place on an annual basis.

In July, 2012, in Nuevo Vallarta, a Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy was opened. This represents the fifteenth of such academies under the Nicklaus brand.

Carlos Ortiz, a Mexican professional golfer, became the Vidanta Golf brand ambassador in November of 2014.

A new Greg Norman designed golf course was opened by Vidanta Gold in May, 2015, and is located at Riviera Nayarit in Mexico.
