CharlotteXainte: 20,000 or so votes in key counties gave us 4 years of Donald Trump, so yes your vote DOES make a difference. If it wasn't important, Republicans wouldn't be falling over themselves trying to take it away from you.

Jack_Torrance: Your vote matters period.

I heard some people think their vote does not make a difference. Some of their reasons are “I’m only one person”, “the Electoral College means that only the biggest states count for who is elected president”, “I live in a state that is dominated by the other party”, etcetera. Guess what? All these reasons for not voting are false.

I understand many feel they are disaffected, frustrated or disconnected with the government. That is understandable given the constant gridlock in the congress and ever increasing polarization of both parties. But the only solution is to vote and to tell anyone you know to vote and share the message until every fucking person on this planet votes.

Historically, there have been many close elections and some have won by just one vote or just a few votes. More recently in 2000, Al Gore narrowly lost to George W. Bush. The election came down to a recount in Florida, where Bush had won the popular vote by such a small margin that it triggered an automatic recount and a Supreme Court case. In the end, Bush won Florida by 0.009 percent of the votes cast in the state, or 537 votes.

So, yes every vote does matter and it is your fucking civic duty to vote as governed by the constitution. America is under serious threat today with democracy in a very fragile state and now more than ever, it is important to vote in the upcoming elections to protect the democracy before it is too late.
