MontanaMatt: Well I got out of Billings Montana just in time. They got absolutely pounded by a monster hailstorm about 2 hours after I left. Unfortunately... I'm in Bowman North Dakota for the night and that same storm should be here in about 30 minutes. Sometimes you can run but you just can't hide! ๐Ÿ™„

MontanaMatt: I was watching that storm Chase me in my mirrors all the way here. When I got stopped for speeding I thought I wasn't gonna make it! But that highway patrolman lives in my hometown and knows my sister. ๐Ÿ˜‰ He just asked me to slow down a little. Can do buddy! And thank you!

MontanaMatt: I was a little shocked that he even stopped me. My truck is governed at 68..... So I'm always doing 68. The speed limit in Montana on 2 lane roads is 60 for trucks. Not a big deal. That's the 1st interaction with a highway patrolman I've had in almost 2 years..... Other than an occasion flash of the headlights. And they are generally very very lenient with trucks in Montana. They know we have places to go. And they understand that even going over the limit a little...... Most truck drivers are still better drivers than 98% of the people on the road.

Shell Sweetie: I just got a ticket in Texas for going 75 in a 55. He told me he almost got me in the 50 but I slowed down. $195, I went and talked to the DA and told him I did not mind paying any amount he wanted to charge me, I just didn't want it to go against my record. I have a CDL Class A with passenger endorsement tankers doubles and triples and air brakes. I did not want that going against my record. He told me he would do it on a 6 month deferral then he said of course we're not going to check. LOL and he said then he would actually knock it down to $150. I said where do I sign? I'm still waiting on the paperwork but I already took the money order to the courthouse. So as long as I don't get stopped in that town again I'll probably be okay.

Shell Sweetie: And yes I do know commercial vehicles are different, but I just bought a $160 radar detector for my car. It's absolutely amazing how far it picks up. I know you can't have one in your truck legally, just be careful out there. Not all of them are that nice.

MontanaMatt: The really sad part of that is with Texas plates you probably wouldn't have been ticketed at all. Every truck driver on the planet knows to watch those speed limits very carefully in Texas. Ticketing out of staters is a fundraiser in Texas. I'm glad they were cool with you.
One of the many reasons I don't go toCalifornia anymore is the Gestapo like attitude of their Hp's. Ain't nobody got time for that shit! And one $270 ticket in California was enough for me. Bastards!

Shell Sweetie: I got a ticket about seven or eight years ago for seatbelt that was $20 in Oklahoma. The one before that my son had took his seatbelt off and was sitting sideways in the seat I did not know it and I will got pulled over for speeding just a little he gave me a warning on the speed and gave me a $500 ticket for the seat belt. Other than that it's been a long long time since I've had a speeding ticket or anything.
