Rain

I’m not a worshipping man if I’m being honest
Been years since I’ve strode a cloistered hall
But were I to take up a god or goddess
T’would have to be Tefnut, Shala, or Ba’al

For constant I’d want those drops to fall
Pleasantly singing me to sleep
The light cloud breaks to the heaviest squall
Rumbling thunder and raining sheets

There are few things natural or man made
That fill me with this joy and peace
And any of those sun filled days I’d trade
For a storm front from West or East

Give me the cloud filled days so I can hope
The skies might pelt this too solid earth
That the rains will come and soak
My too dry skin and bring forth my mirth

To those who frown at that water spilled
I have to laugh and shake my head
If ever that rain was taken and killed
Then with the waters we’d be dead

So rejoice with me when comes the rain
Laugh and merriment make anew
Dance in those waters as if insane
Until again the gray skies blue
