when religion ruled the world

“There was a time when religion ruled the world. It is known as the Dark Ages.”

nikray its 6AM and a portentious quiet has descended on the room. Nik takes up a defensive position at the snack table, nervously checking that his whoopee cushion was charged and at the ready.

the priest and the chief

A missionary had worked for 5 long years to convert a previously uncontacted tribe in the Amazon but without success.  They would come to church for the free food and listen politely, but then return to their heathen ways.

Finally he assembled his disinterested flock and angrily threatened them with eternal hellfire and damnation if they didn't accept Jesus as their Savior.

After the service the old chief approached him, only to get a proper dressing down from the irate preacher. "You knew nothing of Jesus before I arrived!" he thundered. "And this is the thanks I get!"

Finally the chief broke his silence. "Let me ask you, white father, does your god send to this terrible hell everybody who doesn't accept his son?  Even people who never heard of him?"

"Certainly not," responded the priest. "That would be unfair and unjust. Ours is a just god."

"Then why," shouted the chief brandishing his spear threateningly, "did you tell us?"
