Irishholly: I was happy to see Bottas win this one today. I don't think Lewis Hamilton was a bit happy with that 10 second penalty. I was really sorry to see Carlos Saintz out again at the very beginning of the race after he clipped that wall between those pylons. Typical 3 guys on the podium though. Ho Hum.
racytalker to Irishholly: By contrast to a clean NASCAR short-track race, the Formula 1 Mugello event was a train wreck. The safety car came out on the first lap after last Sunday’s winner, Pierre Gasly, crashed heavily. A multi-car collision on the rolling restart resulted in a red flag and the first of two standing restarts. The second red flag was followed by another standing start. With 40% of the field out, it was an easy romp for Mercedes to another 1-2 finish with Hamilton in front. Red Bull’s Alex Albon scored his first podium as teammate Max Verstappen was out early with power unit issues. Next race is September 25 at the Sochi circuit in Russia.
Irishholly: Racy, thanks for the recap. Of course, I watched this F1 race and was horrified by the crashes. It was nice though to see one new face on the podium. And after the previous 2 races which were a bit ho-hum, this one was certainly was not boring. It was like watching 3 separate races in one morning!
