RelativelyJessi: Tonight I switched on the TV and there was a movie on BET, Coach Carter. The very first scene I saw is when the basketball team is shown sitting in school desks in the gym. One of the basketball players, and a student too, Timo Cruz, spoke the following:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
I don't know if this is a quote from someone famous, or an amazing example of screenwriting, but how profound this seems to me. How truthful. How encouraging. How much I immediately wanted to share this with my friends. I want to see your lights shine. Show me your brilliance. Be liberated.
TinkerBell07: Jessi, so wise, caring, talented, amazing, thoughtful person on such young shoulders, I will always love you, my little sister. Stay safe.
selectswan: Attributed both to Nelson Mandela and Marianne Williamson (Course in Miracles) before that. both amazing people and a very inspiring quote. Hi neighbor! Stop by and say hi when you can
