Potential Friends: Fill out your profile; statement and all, and tell me something about yourself in a note, not PM. I'm here for mostly G-RATED meaningful conversations and possible connections. [NO X!! Understood?] My eyesight is terrible so tend to stay in low-population rooms hoping not to fall behind. Multi-faceted, Autismic, very monkish hermit, writer and rogue scholar who's subjects cover nearly A to Z, Astrophysics, Philosophy, Languages, Literature, Communications, Spirituality etc. Basically a reference librarian. Inspire me and I've usually got a famous quote or a classic poem. Might have been a scribe in a past life. Believes good humor is essential for surviving trying times.

Born empathetic and having health problems including recent strokes and as a survivor of a very hostile world I'm led to try to help, as I have been helped, as best I can within my limited abilities. "The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate for the stormy present, the occasion is piled high with difficulty, but we must rise to the occasion..." -Abraham Lincoln

Rogue Scholar: Goes with the mental internal dialogues "Why do I keep seeing the same pattern?" only in the other form "HOW did I MISS this pattern? Right here in front of me and for so long. I must be some kind of complete idiot!!!!!!!!!"
We're still awash with complications as a result of 'cleaning house' of any sociopaths, etc.

Rogue Scholar: later realizes this is also essentially the anniversary of the "Worst Ever" Winter 2020 after which nothing was ever the same again and everything ever known broke. And I still have no glasses or a coca-cola even!!

Rogue Scholar: HUMOUR, singalong if you dare~The fun perils of a semi-eidetic memory in musical radio history circa 1985 Spokane, Washington
To the tune of the most famous Italian Pizzeria song ever "Funiculi, Funicula": No idea why this local station chose this song for a song about a thermos....

"Oh I just bought a Stanley Wide-mouth thermos, it's mouth's so wide;
Made for easy filling, easy cleaning, spoon fits inside.
For years my lunch consisted of a sandwich, that's all I got...
{that's all he got...}
Today at noon I'll dine on meat and gravy, it will be hot, {it will be hot!}, [Chorus] Stanley, Stanley, the thermos made of steel,
Stanley, Stanley, for hot drinks or a meal,
it has no glass, it will not crack, you will not need to bring it back,
try what you will it will not break, {we're out of song for goodness sake!}
No other thermos stays hot so long, Stanley Wide-mouth thermos, guaranteed for life! Stanley, Stanley..."

Rogue Scholar: Poetry

"Water" by Philip Larkin
Water
If I were called in
To construct a religion
I should make use of water.

Going to church
Would entail a fording
To dry, different clothes;

My litany would employ
Images of sousing,
A furious devout drench,

And I should raise in the east
A glass of water
Where any-angled light
Would congregate endlessly.

Rogue Scholar in reply to Rick Prime:
Lovely, reminiscent...
"Is not, on cheeks like those,
Lovely the flush?--
Ah, so the quiet was!
So was the hush."

can't recall who wrote it.....

spin dancable discotheque-esque subtle boogie

This one made me understand why the dervishes spin the way they do. It also made me wonder which way they spin in the Southern Hemisphere...8)
