sarah_spirit in reply to Finger5: It’s an onion flower .. last year I grew onions for the first time .. I planted two rows and it was a little late .. I harvested most of them but a few were tiny .. didn’t flourish.. this year I let my veg patch go fallow .. I usually dig over and prepare but I didn’t I let it go wild ..
I was surprised to see a couple of them throw flower spikes up and as I’ve never seen them like that I left them to grow .. so glad I did they ate beautiful and the bees love them lol

Finger5
Finger5: I saw something similar on a YouTube video recently, it was more of a seed head with loads of tiny onions about the size of grains of rice.

Sir Loin
Sir Loin: I let my garlic produce flowers like this, When they die back the bulb has a stronger flavour and is easier to break into cloves.
And snowdrops will change colour in the same way if you add a few drops of dye to the water in a vase.

CatcherAl
CatcherAl: It's really sad about the bees. They were the worker bees and supposed to bee busy all day long. When they got back to the hive the Queen bee smelt the onion with maybe a touch of garlic too and accused them of dining out at the Newly Opened French Restaurant in town.
Despite their blee's/plee's of innocence they were ejected from the hive and had their wings clipped. Luckily no jail time as previous to this incident they had an exemplary record.
( Note from Editor in Chief:- wing clipping is not a complete disaster as they grow back within three months)

a reminder of better things to come .. xx
