Man of Honor

A family man, full of life and hope
You have everything in your life in scope
In the army fighting for what is right
But family and friends never leave your sight
First and foremost on your mind
You fight for yours and mine
To keep all safe and bring others to freedom
With hope that evil will succumb
To the power of good and the strength of the heart
Where to begin you do not know but you start
To make the world safer for all
You do not stop or stall
We are in a battle together, and I fall
For me you search, you don't give up
Although you know there is minimal hope
For me yet you find, and save
A gift to me you gave
To sacrifice your life to save mine
I go home but yet you stay
To fight with fear you do not stray
Though your family is at home
You miss them, you are alone
Your heart filled with love
To protect all, your safety away you shove
A good man, a good soldier, an angel from above
A promise I made I could not fulfill
To save your life, to keep you alive
This promise though I will strive
To keep till the day that I die
To protect your family
So that you can watch from above in the sky
Watch your kids grow
Teach them of your honor so they will know
Their daddy, a man of great honor and bravery
Teach them of the gift you send
To all free men and women
But most of all your family and me
Your friend/brother for eternity
