Sir Loin: Fucking Hell, I just heard on the news. Some guy in Christchurch was threatening to commit suicide so cops came and shot the poor bugger. Way past time police forces around the world were trained to deal with mental illnesses
Asiababe: This make me very sad. I am nursing in mental health ward and some my patients try suicide coz they are sick with cancer or stroke. Maybe cops wanna kill them too?
Warrior Goddess in reply to Sir Loin: but do you think someone that has taking a childs life deserves television radios three free meals no job just doing what hey want in the confines of a jail cell. they live but the child is gone the parents and family will never see them except in the after life while the murderer can see their family still. I don't call that fair. And even jesus said that man has laws to for society gods laws are for your spirit and your soul. so the two are different.
Nerdy Army Veteran: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2002-aug-31-na-bamaslay31-story.html that is why I am for it. I was 16 when this happened. Hell I was at their house a few hours before it happened. I lay here and think what would have happened if I stayed there every night. Would I be alive or dead?
Sir Loin in reply to Warrior Goddess: No they don't deserve those comforts, jails can be made much less luxurious so prisoners know they're being punished. I just have a real problem with a govt imposing death penalty on anyone.
BankaiNZ: Is removal from the society they grew up in, their families except for pre arranged, visits when they are not permitted to have any physical contact, limited exercise time leaving most of the hours of the day to have time to think about what they have done, being fed just to ensure their continued existence within this cycle not a worse punishment than death anyway?
People are fast to say they should suffer more based on some self righteous notion that others should suffer as they have, how can society ever change if it’s an eye for an eye? It only makes everyone blind.
Nerdy Army Veteran in reply to BankaiNZ: I’m one of the ones that believe an eye for an eye. The article I posted didn’t tell you that 4 members of that family were beheaded, 1 was cut in half, and the other was found with over 200 stab wounds. To me if a guy can do that to a 62 year old woman all the way down to a 14 year old boy, he deserves to fry. I’m sorry but that’s how I feel
Warrior Goddess in reply to BankaiNZ: Ban some of them have been in and out of jail for years its not that much of a deterent. And not all get life in prison. right now a guy is getting ready to reenter soceiety after 12 years for raping and killing a 14 yr. then as army said ppl hear these crimes hey i can be famous immortalized even by tv and social medias
Nerdy Army Veteran: Agreed. We shouldn’t make these people famous. We should fry them as soon as either they admit it or when a jury finds them guilty. That’s my opinion though
BankaiNZ: I Understand your position,I never read the article but I am not basing this on one set of events but overall, did anyone learn anything from death? Does death make any real difference to those who suffered and left behind? Does killing that person justify the loss of the ones that may still love them? The instance in the Bible where genocide took place, when the ark was built and only those that were deemed worthy of survival, survived.. Attila the Hun believing his race superior to all others, Hitler another you can’t tell me a society that believes people deserve to die, simply because they are different to what you perceive to be right is ever going to change anything with the same mentality but on a smaller scale.
BankaiNZ: Not everyone who goes to school passes exams, does that mean that system is a failure too? I agree they should not be immortalized which ironically is what’s happening here by discussing a particular offender and their crimes. No one system is perfect. In this instance, Removing his ability to procreate and leaving them alive to consider their transgression is a worse punishment in my opinion but as always each to their own.
BankaiNZ: The Guildford 4, The Birmingham 6 to name a few where the Justice system has got it wrong on an epic scale, both events innocents were killed alongside the potential targets, both events where people suffered tragic loss, both would have been more tragic, if the death penalty had been applied as soon as a jury found them guilty.
pete repete: seems a few comments off topic, no one wants nutters set free but in our system until proven guilty in court of law we all accept courtesy of rights living in society/ civilisation otherwise why would be put up with all the faults of it???????? dog eat dog times are fearful....
Sir Loin in reply to BankaiNZ: I agree, however there are times when I think a victims father could be given a baseball bat and let loose with a murderer or rapist.
chummel0001: Yeah who knew while running from cops in vehicle and then pulling shotgun out once car was disabled and firing it down the street cops would think he was a threat to society and fire upon him to stop his acting out....
Sir Loin in reply to chummel0001: As a rule we don't get that sort of thing happening here Chumm. We use shotguns for shooting game birds. This particular guy had some kind of firearm and had told his family he was gonna kill himself, he never threatened anyone else.
Sir Loin in reply to WonderWoman1: Life can be terribly sad and unfair. People in power (eg; cops) need to have more training in dealing with all potential situations such as the one I mentioned above. Then, just maybe we will have fewer such incidents
Warrior Goddess: Yes they do. A suicidal person needs help they need to know they aren't worthless that they are loved. There are ppl that are so kind so loving but so sensitive to things like gravity the air we breathe and just the atmosphere or environment that it literally feels like they are being pricked or poked. It is a physical manifestation of their depression. I call these people angels. they live they love but always have one foot on the other side and it calls to them.
