This was my very first shoot. The girl on the right was a dancer (and neighborhood / school friend) who was also doing some modeling and when someone didn't show up for a shoot, she invited me and that's pretty much how I got my start. I was 12 here. GBeachSwimmer: Sometimes it's being in the right place at the right time. Years ago a friend of my friend's sister was working as a receptionist at a modeling agency and when the hand model failed to show up they asked her to fill in. She ended up being a very successful hand model. (Post deleted by staff ) Tacoma Coffee Girl: I don't model anymore though many have tried to get me to again. I guess the number one reason for that is: "Been there/done that" also because the game has changed since I did modeling. It was my experience that preteen and teenage girls were the most sought after. Models did have an expiration date, because there's always younger and more prettier models willing to work for less money coming right behind you. However photographers did not have an expiration date and I don't think they have an expiration date in the present either. So that's why you often see much older adults photographing much younger subjects. To anyone outside the industry it looks very creepy but if you're on the inside of the industry then it's the norm. Since we're going into the Christmas season I thought that it would be nice to share an older picture of me doing a Christmas themed shoot. I believe this was my very first Christmas themed shoot. I want to say I was 16 at the time? (Possibly 15) Now I will say that the female form is never a cookie cutter fit. Every female body is different even in the slightest. So that's why we have to try on 50 pairs of clothes and several hours shopping for just one outfit. A male photographer with his female assistant by under the direction of the agency I was working for at the time took me to costume shop called "Jokers R wild" so that we could get a Christmas outfit. Now originally I was looking at some really cute outfits that I liked but the sales lady who owned the shop came over and asked if we need assistance. The sales lady asked how old I was and I replied that I was 16 (I think) and she directed me to this huge and oversized monstrosity of a Santa outfit. I absolutely hated it but because I was 16 they thought the other outfits would be not age appropriate. So the Santa outfit was pretty much just a big overcoat and the Hem came down to almost my knees. I remember I was wearing black leggings at the time and in an attempt to make it look more my style I pulled up my leggings as far as I could so in the photographs they looked like I was just wearing black shorts. I was really good at using props and they gave me a candy cane to work with. Do you remember the movie Mean Girls? The famous scene where the quartet of girls does this dance while wearing sexy Santa outfits? Well after that, there was an explosion of models and photographers wanting to do Santa outfit themed shoots. I think that's all I can pretty much say about this shoot as I remember it. This particular image ended up on what is known as "the cutting room floor" it has a flaw. Can you spot the flaw? I have marked it for you in yellow but in the premarked image it looks like I have an 'elf ear' these mistakes are often overlooked while doing a photo shoot and are later seen in the editing process.
