th_mcilmoyle: Hi, I am new here!! Before I joined this site I was a member of another site and yesterday someone posted a thread about her age and her appearance etc changing because she was ageing. I tried to reassure this person that we ALL age and we ALL change. Women have to go through some horrible stuff when they get to a certain age. Some handle it well, others struggle.
I made a very innocent comment about how I had just turned 51 years of age and walked past a few workmen the other day and when one of them whistled at me I was totally chuffed!! It was a very innocent comment to make and the backlash I received was terrible. I was told I was a "Disgrace and embarrassment to other women" I was told I needed to "F--K Off and get a real life" I was told "they were probably taking the piss out of me and that I was probably looked like old mutton". These are faceless people and I know it should not have bothered me as much as is did but I started to defend myself, and used a few choice words of my own (albeit I did manage to keep my dignity and NOT lower myself to use vile language and not once did I swear) and needless to say the post got brought to the attention of the HQ who intervened and decided to delete MY account. Never mind the vile creatures who were calling me for everything!!...I really was quite upset by this...Don't even know why I am telling you...Just needed to get it off my chest...I am sure there are older women out there who would feel exactly the same as me.
